We sprout from tiny seedlings,
snug inside the nutritious soil.
Our roots steady us to the Earth.
We have to try
not to be stepped on.
We slowly grow.
Each season throws obstacles at us.
Autumn, our leaves fall from the sky,
each more beautiful than the last.
In Winter it showers blankets of white
all through the night.
Spring, we bloom flowers
all through the showers
and glimmer as bright as the moon.
And lastly comes Summer,
when our leaves become drier
and the climate climbs higher
until Fall.
We give you humans oxygen.
And in return?
You cut us down!
But some of you
“grateful” humans water us
and keep your dogs away.
And that is all I have to say about
