If You Were the Sun

Turn on the light when
moon shuts off.
Shine down on all living things.
Slowly walk across the sky as hours pass.
Paint the sky bright and blue.
Go knock on moon’s door when you get tired.
Throw on the blanket and your light
fades away, and the blue has gone and black has come.
And yellow is no longer seen but white is bright.
That is what you would do if you were the sun.
