Where I’m From

I’m from dancing to music from today
And from the 80’s & 90’s
Doing homework while singing to Queen
Getting distracted by singing too much

I’m from hitting the ball with a wooden bat in the park
Unique by being the only girl on my baseball team and flag football team

I’m from my moms homemade tikka masala and omelettes
With bacon sizzling on her pan in the kitchen
Running home to have homemade tacos and guac

I’m from wizards and witches, the boy who lived
In a magical place almost like you were sucked up
By another world

I’m from the crucial world of laundry, dishes,
Cleaning your room and trying to make excuses
To get out of it

I’m from running around outside
Playing tag with friends
Being 10 years old
Independent and leaving the house
Whenever you want to

I’m from a messy room with dolls
And books on the ground
I live with an amazing sister that is born
For making people laugh
With her hilarious faces and voices

I’m from the noisy city
Cars are never silent
Screeches of cars never stop

Now tell me,
Where are you from?
